The FF Meta Font was created because designer Erik Spiekermann found the Helvetica font to be “boring and bland”, and he wanted to design a font that was the “complete opposite of Helvetica”.
So he released this humanist sans-serif typeface family in the year 1991 under the banner of his own FontFont library. In the initial years of this font, it was used in the international design community.
